North, CA 04:15
In the middle of her crash she looked in the rear view mirror, And seeing all her past laid out in a broken line, She couldn’t help but laugh...here. North, California. All her best laid plans chased her through the open air, Through all the broken glass and over fields of golden grass, She wanted a new life...here. North, California. And her eyes looked like mine laid upon the open road, She’d come to be the bride of a man she hadn’t met quite yet, She couldn't help but die...here. North, California.

Ordinary Day 04:17
It was the first time, won’t be the last time I wander by your window thinking how we’d been so long ago, I heard you crying, hopelessly trying to put your puzzle pieces back together and pay attention to the weather, Or not, this is the same game, and if not him who could there be to blame, It’s just an ordinary day. Time it creeps on by, sitting here while my memories click back through the lines looking for some warning sign, You felt like dying, now you’re here lying with your knees pressed tight up to your chest and wondering if he was the best, Or not, despite the sad shame, you want him back just the way he came, for one more ordinary day. When I’m feeling better, I'll try to write you a letter to say I’m sorry about all the pain and leave nothing more to explain, I’ll make sure to write there, that I’ll meet you back where we walked among the trees together day or night in any weather, Or not, this is the same game, you waited here but he just never came, it’s become an ordinary day.

We were born on frozen ground, To make our due with what we found, And I wonder if I'd learned to fight, What might I cut from your sunlight. I see the hands you're getting by, Come 'round my fire I'll bleed you dry, And when I stumble you will fall, I'd rather dance before you crawl. The house I built it's strong and sound, With space for where you'll drag me down, Under blanket drifts of snow, We lied down here lifetimes ago. Bury her in frozen ground, I pray to join this death we're bound, Lay me down beside my love, With the tall pines up above.

Woke up in a winter sun, Our days on backroads are feeling done, So it’s me trying, Call me back if you feel like crying. This train long gone my friend. The days here alone, With all of your things still at my home, This train long gone my friend. No pictures smiling, Oh, my baby said she feels like dying. This train long gone my friend.

The River 04:15
There was a river that once led me back here, It was a river I thought I could count on for years, The child is gone from here, soon I will be too. Went back to the river to find her tired and gone, Just please put me back down in a place I belong, The child is gone from here, soon I will be too. The father of this man is just a boy, The father of this man wanted so much more. But this old river has left me alone, As if to tell me I must find my own way back home, I wanted to be free and made my way to the sea.

Rain 04:02
I'm sick of waiting...I've become used to sitting alone, Frost on the window, I've run into that door before, But nothing got damaged, my face is wet from my bicycle. The clouds fill from the west towards the here-and-the-now fore, Rain wash from our skin a lifetime of sin we keep in our hands. I'm sick of listening...I'll watch your mouth while you walk by me, I'll set the table and look for signs I've never seen before, I'll clear the table and make plans for a sunny day. The clouds fill from the west towards the here-and-the-now fore, Rain wash from our skin a lifetime of sin we keep in our hands.

Home is where I want to be pick me up and turn me round, I feel numb...burn with a weak heart...guess I must be having fun The less we say about it the better make it up as we go along Feet on the ground, head in the sky It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing. I got plenty of time, you got light in your eyes And you're standing here beside me I love the passing of time Never for money, always for love Cover up say goodnight . . . say goodnight. Home is where I want to be but I guess I'm already there I come home she lifted up her wings guess that this must be the place I can't tell one from another did I find you, or you find me? There was a time Before we were born If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be. We drift in and out, sing into my mouth Out of all those kinds of people You got a face with a view I'm just an animal looking for a home Share the same space for a minute or two And you love me till my heart stops, love me till I'm dead Eyes that light up, eyes look through you Cover up the blank spots hit me on the head.

Used To 02:06
Come in... I think that you should sit down, I've got a note I need to read to you, Won't you help me get through this part, Seeing your face makes it hard to read: "And I don't love you the way that I used to" You know it seems like such a long time, I haven't seen or even heard from you, But it's all right... I heard you found yourself somebody new, But does he love you the way that I used to?
10.
Underground 04:40
Relax, relax your mind, I don’t dare stay... I was a star so close behind, Checks on the wall...the wall. If I pulled some strings would you answer me, Take me underground where I’ll take my hands, Off of both my eyes so I can hold your face, And we’ll never speak of our own place, I am alone... Too much, too much at hand, The water’s too cold...I can’t get in, Pushing a hand deep in the sand Doesn’t delay the day. If I pulled some strings would you answer me, Take me underground where I’ll take my hands, Off of both my eyes so I can hold your face, And we’ll never speak of our own place, I am alone...

When I go deaf I won't even mind, Yeah, I'll be okay and I'll be just fine, And I'll stay out all night just looking at the sky, I'll still have my sight...I'll still have my eyes. And we will make love...we won't have to fight, We won't have to speak and we won't have to lie, And I'll stop writing songs...stop scratching out lines, I won't have to fake and it won't have to rhyme. When I go deaf.
